Furry: A Creative and Cultural Community

Furry refers to an interest in or appreciation of anthropomorphic animals—animals with human characteristics such as speaking, walking upright, or expressing human emotions. The term is commonly associated with the furry fandom, a community of people who enjoy this theme through art, stories, animation, games, and costumes.

Many people in the furry community create or adopt a fursona, a personalized animal character that represents their identity, personality, or creativity. Participation can range from enjoying artwork and online discussions to attending conventions or wearing costumes known as fursuits.

Being a furry is primarily a hobby or fandom, not a sexual orientation or identity. While some adult content exists within parts of the fandom, the furry community as a whole is diverse and largely focused on creativity, friendship, and self-expression.
