Update 7.29b.2024 is out!

• The game has been written out to the end of Week 8, on May 30th.
• Dawn, Rosa, Janine, Misty, Erika, Silver, a Secret Character, and Cheren have character scenes.
• 24 Foreverals have been created, unlocked by viewing the character scenes listed above.
• Many new ‘generic class scenes’ have been created–every class has at least thirty, with many having forty. MMCC continues to cook.
• A new mechanic has been introduced that will become rather important over the next two in-game weeks.

Please report bugs and typos in⁠ ⁠⁠bugs and #⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠typos, and give feedback in the appropriate channels. Download links are, of course, in ⁠⁠downloads. This week also comes with a variety of retcons–changes or states of being that existed previously that I have thought on, and wish to remove. As these may not be immediately apparent, I will list them here, as there’s much potential for confusion when it comes to retcons. Mechanical Retcons

• Rosa and Hilda no longer swap classes. This means Rosa does not give up her Pikachu.
• Nate will now swap classes from Electric to Dark, shortly after Week 7 Tuesday. If he acquired Toxel on Springsday, he will give it to Rosa.
• Wally has been made a Fairy/Fighting trainer, and Sonia has been made an Electric/Fire one, retroactively.
• The dungeon system has been entirely reworked, with new dialog, mechanics, rewards, and tutorials, starting on the 10th of May. Dungeons are now, in my estimation, slightly harder, but much easier to understand, and much faster to go through.
• Several Foreverals have been removed or changed. You will still have access to any FVLs that have the same name as they had previously, regardless of if you have still fulfilled the conditions to get them.

Narrative Retcons

• Battle Team outfits have been retroactively added to the meetings, starting on the 14th of May.
• Eri has been removed from her prior scenes, and will reappear in a more fitting role in a future chapter.
• Jasmine no longer uses a cane. She still suffers from all other afflictions stated previously. (Poor dear.)
• Removed Ethan.

My hope is that this will be the last iteration of Week 7, and I can make full progress on the Week 7.5 update after this. Still, if it needs another release, then it’ll get one. Included in this release are bugfixes for a few bugs, such as:

• Eevee can evolve into Sylveon now.
• The gifting system isn’t entirely broken anymore.
• Repels, Super Repels, and Max Repels no longer work based on levels, but instead operate on rarity levels. Repels prevent common Pokémon from appearing, Super Repels keep common and uncommon Pokémon from appearing, and Max Repels prevent common, uncommon, and rare Pokémon from appearing, leaving only Super-Rare and Ultra-Rare Pokémon.
• Fixed an issue where Blue’s Pokemon would have infinite PP during a certain fight.
• Various other minor bugs and typos.
• And, apparently, looking over the changelog, I included a file I shouldn’t have, that’s relevant to the Dungeon revamps. Well, I’ve built this bloody thing five times already, I’m not doing it again, go ahead and take what you can from it, I guess.

• Sabrina, Nessa, Sonia, Rosa, and two secret characters have new character scenes.
• 30 new Foreverals have been created, unlocked by viewing the character scenes listed above.
• A new system has been introduced that allows you to gather items.
• Enabled going out at night.
• New collectibles have been introduced: Gimmighoul Coins, Gym Badges, and Scholarships.
• Several balance changes to Gardenia’s investing, certain custom moves, and gifting items.
• Updated assets for a great many students, other characters, and teachers.
• A new bondable character, the SECRET character from the Price of Fame storyline, has been introduced.
• Many, many, bugfixes.
• When you go to bed, the game will auto-detect if the save file has the potential for problems, and will prompt you to correct them. (Bugfix impact is now almost entirely noninvasive.)
• Removed Ethan.

• The starter pool has been expanded from Charmander to 52 other Pokémon.
• In accordance with the previous teams’ wishes, the character of Red has been rewritten to be less of an ignorant country bumpkin.
• In accordance with the previous teams’ wishes, you are no longer locked into a single roommate; you share a dorm with Hilbert, Ethan, Brendan, and Calem.
• You are no longer locked into two electives; you can pick from any elective you want, at any time.
• Various setting changes. It’s a university, not a high school, for one.

Initial Release

The game Pokemon Academy Life was officially abandoned by its creators in 2022 and had all of its assets and plans publicly released.
In the time since, a new developer (Freudian Creations) has stepped forward to essentially do a remake of the project with the intentions of making a game that can feasibly be completed based on the original. This project was re-titled Pokemon Academy Life Forever. They made an initial release in March 2023, and an update on April 5, 2023 (with a same-day hotfix to a bug in the new content), having effectively caught up to the original in the amount of content while also managing to fit in notable reworks to the format. They also now have a separate project Discord and access to the previous YouTube channel and Twitter account associated with the previous owners of the project. As a result, I am requesting an update to the existing thread for the original project with the above information.
