Straitened Times is not a strictly linear game. Several routes can progress at the same time, and many events require you to repeat the same activity before another dialogue option or scene appears.

This order is designed to reduce situations where a route appears stuck because another prerequisite has not yet been completed. You do not need to complete each route separately before moving to the next one.

The motel is one of the most important hubs in Straitened Times. Several character routes, random encounters and later group events depend on motel progression.

Continue talking with the Motel Manager, Darna, and develop the motel storyline whenever new options become available. Some stages require repeating the same interactions before a new option appears.

Darna Route

Progress Darna normally through her conversations and motel-related tasks. Continue increasing her Opinion and return after completing other motel events.

Later progression with Darna connects to Mom, the pool and additional motel characters.

Darna and Mom Threesome

Progress both Darna and Mom individually first. Once both routes have reached the required sexual stages, they can begin appearing together.

Anna Route

Continue visiting Anna and progress her relationship normally.

The drinking game at the step-family house is an important part of her later progression. It occurs at night and needs to be repeated several times before all available content is unlocked.

Because this event advances into the next day, normal time rollback may not work reliably while the drinking-game sequence is active.

Mary Route

Progress Mary independently until her later sex stages become available.

Her route eventually connects with Anna, Alexa and Lil, so continue checking Mary after major progression with the other step-family characters.

Alexa Route

Alexa’s room contains several progressively unlocked sexual interactions.

The route develops through selfies and later sexual options including handjob, blowjob, anal and sex.

Continue repeating available activities until the next stage appears.

Continue the clothes competition between Mom and Kate.

Continue progressing both Mom and Kate independently at the same time.

After progressing Kate far enough, sleepover events become available.

Continue Emmanuelle’s normal school conversations and library-related progression.

If the encounter does not trigger through the random system, entering her room manually may work once the required progression has been reached.

Mom also has an RNG-based motel event during the daytime.

Using the motel’s walk-around/pry system repeatedly is generally the easiest way to trigger it.

If a route appears stuck, check the following before assuming you have reached the end:

• Opinion: Some events require sufficiently high Opinion.
• Conflict: High Conflict can interfere with relationship progression.
• Time: The required character may only be available during a specific hour.
• Day: Some characters only appear on certain days.
• Cooldown: A previous event may have happened too recently.
• RNG: Some events simply need several attempts.
• Related route: Another character may need additional progression.
• Repetition: Some activities must be repeated several times before the next option appears.
• Location: A character may have moved somewhere else because of the current schedule.

When you know the prerequisites are complete but an RNG event is not appearing:

1. Save before the expected event window.
2. Enter the correct location.
3. Try the relevant interaction.
4. If nothing happens, leave the room or area.
5. Advance approximately one hour when appropriate.
6. Return and try again.
7. Reload your save if the event still refuses to trigger.

Do not immediately use console commands unless you have already confirmed that the normal prerequisites are satisfied.

These are replay/debug commands, not normal walkthrough requirements.

Avoid repeatedly changing GData.Time while NPCs are present in the same location.

The game uses schedules to move characters between locations, and forcing the clock directly from one period to another may prevent them from repositioning correctly.

Whenever possible, move the clock to approximately one hour before the required event and advance normally.

The early-morning period also resets several daily systems, including school-related progression, so be careful when moving through the daily reset.

The most efficient way to progress Straitened Times is to develop several connected routes simultaneously.

Use school hours for school characters, work periods for money and employment progression, afternoons for household and city routes, and late-night hours for characters whose encounters specifically depend on nighttime schedules.

If a route stops progressing, do not immediately assume the content is finished. Check its connected characters, cooldowns, schedule, Opinion, Conflict and RNG requirements.
